Professor Liu (Deputy Director of the Sustainable Design Institute) and Xia Nan (his research assistant), from the Academy of Art and Design, have their offices on the campus of the prestigious Tsinghua University.

They recently worked on the Food Loop System exhibit during the Beijing Design Week 2013 in partnership with Beijing University of Technology, X6, Little Donkey Farm and the UX designer Jessica Fan. The purpose of the exhibit was to raise public awareness about the environmental and health issues related to conventional food production/consumption, demonstrate sustainable design, and engage the public in sustainable behaviour. More info at: https://www.jessicafan.ca/blog/?p=382

With the same team, they are designing a map of sustainable “green” restaurants of Beijing which was awarded a price by HCDconnect, a program by IDEO.org and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. https://www.hcdconnect.org/projects/promoting-sustainable-agriculture-in-china/

This is only a part of their current projects, they are also active on the topic of Urban Farming and develop some tools for sustainable farms like the Little Donkey one.

Their Challenges: Lack of Human Resources / getting people involved.
